Welcome to Breadcrumbs
Welcome to Breadcrumbs!
You might have heard me say that nothing connects us like breaking bread together! While nothing can replace face to face interaction, even the simplest of connections can be meaningful, if done right.
That is our goal with Breadcrumbs.
I hope that this twice-monthly newsletter brings a few morsels of inspiration and a sense of connection to you.
At a time of doomscrolling, multitasking and speed networking, I invite you to slow down, pause and take a few minutes to invest in yourself. Slowing down isn’t about inertia but intentionality. When you are intentional about your energy and time, you can focus on what’s important rather than reacting to whatever is coming your way.
Our inaugural Breadcrumbs includes a Gratitude Moment encouraging you to reflect and celebrate yourself. Reflection and gratitude are built into the 6-week leadership development program at Breaking Bread. When practiced regularly, gratitude is proven to release dopamine and other “happy” neurotransmitters. I’ll admit that it takes some getting used to as we live in a world where we are always rushing on to the next thing.
Being grateful doesn’t mean that everything is great or that you aren’t facing challenges. It is a practice that resets your perspective and rewires your brain to think positively and release neurotransmitters that help you cope with difficult situations.
Would it surprise you to know gratitude can help you with goal achievement? This seemingly “warm and fuzzy” practice works; it is scientifically proven to build resilience helping you navigate through challenging situations. Gratitude replaces negative thought loops with fresh perspective and improves focus when practiced regularly.
Here is one of my favorite gratitude prompts to get you started:
Write it down and if you’d like, share it with us on social media so you can connect and break bread with others who might be in the same boat as you.
Our latest Podcast guest is a great example of humility and intentionality. Check out how Sanjiv Dhar went from working in hotels to owning a family of restaurants. How do you build culture when you inherit a team and existing operation?
Thanks for reading and stick around for more issues of Breadcrumbs! There is much more to come.
